As a member of the Converse All-Star Israeli community group, I had the honor of being selected for a special sustainability project in celebration of Earth Day and World Ocean Day. Out of numerous candidates, I was chosen along with eleven individuals from various corners of the globe to design a classic Ulster shoe, incorporating designs made from environmentally friendly bacteria. The All-Stars feature AirInk, which recycles carbon emissions into deep black ink, or a glow-in-the-dark color produced from Escherichia coli bacteria.These innovative techniques, still in the experimental stage, hold the promise of revolutionizing sneaker production while contributing to environmental conservation. All the shoes were launched on World Ocean Day in a digital store in Australia named Renewlabs. Explore the collection at Renew Labs: https://renewlabs.com. This pop-up store is a collaboration between Converse All-Star and the organization Take 3 for the Sea, a non-governmental organization dedicated to reducing plastic pollution and ocean waste. All pro- ceeds from the store will support their mission to remove over a million pieces of plastic from the ocean.
